We are all addicts. Matters affecting NA as a whole is an article on page 14 of the April, 2004, quarterly issue of “The NA Way Magazine.” This article helps deal with disappointments within our group, area, region, and world. “We” do not live in a perfect world, but each of us can do something to make a difference. Working together, we present a program to attract the newcomer to a better way of life. HOSPITALS AND INSTITUTIONS Recovery in the Heartland Area has H&I commitments on both the group and area levels. We have elected one person, Steve, as our chairperson not only of H&I, but also of Public Information (HIPI). Steve is being asked to compile all H&I information for our regional H&I Chair, Donnie, to update the regional information. Donnie has expressed concern that he may have to step down as H&I Chair when this term is up in August due to his medical situation. We know he will stay involved as his health allows. Thanks for being of service. “HEART OF THE LAKES” HAS CHANGE OF TIME Annandale “Heart of the Lakes NA” meets at United Methodist Church, 250 Oak Ave. N. The group has changed the time their meeting starts from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday nights. RECOVERY IN THE WOODS — THE PIG IS BACK RITHASC approved a budget for Recovery in the Woods campout to be held at Collinwood Campgrounds Father’s Day weekend. The committee chairperson, Al, informs us that a pig roast will be followed by a live band on Saturday. Flyers should be at your home group soon. AREA SERVICE COMMITTEE MET AT COKATO RITHASC regular scheduled meeting was held April 18th at Cokato City Hall. The next regular meeting will be May 16th (third Sunday) at Waconia Moravian Church, 217 East 2nd St. A budget and prudent reserve were adopted and approved by the Service Committee. The Island Gig tee-shirt budget proposal by 10th Annual Island Gig Committee Chairperson, Sandi J., was approved. Sandi’s committee will meet at the Hollywood Ranch House (Hwy. 7 & Co. Rd. 8) on May 22nd at 1 p.m. Policy Chair, Denise H., has completed her one year term with a set of guidelines that fit our area and we can live up to. Thank you to her and committee members who helped re-write area policy. The RITHASC voted to adopt the guideline changes, but like a new pair of boots, the will need a little breaking in. RITHASC had to re-elect its treasurer, Ruth T., as the term changed from February to April. Nominations are open for a new position, Activities Chair, and for Policy Chair (which was up in April). Chaz M. was elected new Literature Outreach Chairperson.
LADIES ONLY NA Group Service Representative (GSR) Gina S. presented a new meeting to the RITHASC for membership in the area. They meet every Friday at 5:00 p.m. at 333 West 2nd St. in Maple Lake. The format of this ladies only meeting is working with the “Step Working Guide,” sponsor-sponsee style, after a potluck dinner. Flyers have all the info. Welcome to the area! ALL AREA GROUPS REPRESENTED AT ASC The area service committee meeting, Sunday, April 18th, was very well attended with GSR’s (and many GSR-A’s) from every group in the area for the second month in a row. 100% representation is rare at the area level; the meeting can be long and confusing for many—newcomers and old-timers alike. Thank your GSR for their service the next time you see them by attending your next group business meeting to share your input and service. RITH CLEAN DATES AND PROUD TIME
